Son Andrew had the idea when he was 14

A father and son are on a bid to reinvent the beloved takeaway with the launch of their own venue, Gannets.

Gannets, based on Eastbank Street in Southport, describes itself as "takeaway reinvented" and offers freshly prepared food direct from its swanky new production kitchen. The takeaway opened its doors for the first time on October 10.The Southport based venture is the brainchild of father and son team Gary and Andrew, with the idea sparked by Andrew when he was still a teenager.

Instagram Burgers and wraps are also available, alongside a number of vegan and vegetarian dishes to suit the ever expanding range of dietary choices and requirements. Gannets is also introducing the 'Yaffle' dessert, which is a sweet concoction made up of a doughnut-like cup rolled in sugar, and filled with a variety of fillings including chocolate fudge, Biscoff creations and more.

Commenting on the launch, Andrew Tate said: "It's so exciting to finally see our dream turn into a reality. I couldn't be happier with the menu, which offers something for everyone, all while remaining of top quality.
