Fans of Father Ted creator Graham Linehan said he was vindicated by the Cass Review's conclusion that medical treatment in children's gender care had been based on weak evidence.

Linehan was even banned by Twitter in 2020 for saying 'men aren't women' and his views have seen him shunned as he lost his TV career, wife, friends and reputation. Among those sharing their support for Linehan after today's report was the Norwich Women's Rights Group, which tweeted: 'As the Cass Review documents the medical scandal of our lifetimes, Norwich Women's Rights Group thank our good friend @Glinner for all he has done to warn the world about 20+ years of damage to kids. You were right. #GlinnerWasRight #CassReport.'

Linehan rose to fame in 1995 for creating the Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted which ran until 1998. He then went on to pen Black Books and The IT Crowd.
The Irish sitcom writer complained to the party after he was denied access to the conference in Manchester, which resulted in a U-turn as then-chairman Greg Hands apologised and ensured he could attend. Linehan said the sudden financial insecurity caused by his trans views caused the collapse of his marriage of 16 years to Helen Serafinowicz, co-creator of the BBC comedy MotherlandLinehan created the classic TV show Father Ted, starring Dermot Morgan and Ardal O'Hanlon
