Two men - including a gangster with links to the LA 'Bloods' street gang and several New York Mafia families - have been jailed after large quantities of drugs were seized from a private jet bound for Liverpool. American nationals Leonardo Petrosillo and Edwin Spears, also known as 'Money', were sentenced on separate dates this month after they plotted to ship the significant haul of drugs across the Atlantic to Liverpool John Lennon Airport .
'The charges arose out of Spears’ participation in a scheme to smuggle drugs and contraband cell phones into a New Jersey state prison. Spears, who was already serving a ten year prison sentence for a prior offence, worked from inside the prison with members of the Lucchese organized crime family of La Cosa Nostra to bring heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and prepaid cell phones into the prison.
