A major search and rescue operation is underway in regional Queensland after a light plane crash on Saturday morning.
Emergency crews including the RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter have been deployed to the crash site near Finch Hatton, about 60 kilometres west of Mackay.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman told SkyNews.com.au a local member of the community alerted officers to the crash just before 9am on Saturday. is now returning to the site of a light aircraft crash in mountainous terrain near Netherdale to check for survivors. More to come.RACQ CQ Rescue had earlier been tasked to the area after reports a light plane had crashed into an"inaccessible mountainous area".
