A fire tore through the historic building last week, leaving local figures concerned for the future of the iconic hotel.
Fears have been raised about the future of local landmark Dumbuck House Hotel after a fire engulfed part of the derelict building.
Three years ago, Devilla Property Services bought the iconic venue, which operated as a restaurant, bar and hotel before it shut down during the pandemic. The company was struck off the Companies House register in January. Last year members of West Dunbartonshire Council’s planning committee tasked local authority chiefs to write to Christina McKelvie, Minister for Culture, Europe and International Development, and the Chief Executive of Historic Environment Scotland expressing disappointment at the decision. They backed a report that slammed HES for the move, saying “The local significance and local opinions appear not to have been given much weight by Historic Environment Scotland in its assessment.
“I was very vocal against the application to de-list the building and was disappointed when this was granted. To now watch footage of the raging flames is devastating. Jackie said: “I am very sorry to hear of the effect this fire has had on the Dumbuck Hotel, which was once a very popular location.
