We really don't want to lose this special part of Lancashire
The owners of a 'neglected' Lancashire nature reserve have promised to continue its maintenance after the charity managing the site ended its involvement.
Based around an old railway line in West Lancashire, the reserve is located near to Southport and Ormskirk and was heralded in particular for the presence of orchids and butterflies. Success stories were told of the impacts on wildlife of the initial restoration, while the site offered a quiet space for visitors to roam with picnic benches available and water running under what was once the railway bridge.
