Rio Ferdinand hopes Manchester United can get a deal done for one specific striker on transfer deadline day.

Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has reiterated his wish for Manchester United to try and sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen ahead of this evening's 11pm transfer deadline.

United's attacking department is much weaker than it was at the start of the window after allowing Marcus Rashford, Ethan Wheatley and Antony to leave on loan. It is understood any move for a new attacker would be a loan deal. United have been linked with Osimhen at various junctures in the past and Ferdinand would like to see the club attempt to sign him on deadline day, despite him currently being out on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray.

"A natural No.9. Victor Osimhen, I would have gone with Osimhen on loan. Get him on loan, man. If it's possible, I would have got him."
