Bruno Fernandes has told Andre Onana that he retains the trust of the Manchester United squad to keep playing out from the back, despite his mistake leading to Matej Vydra's goal for Viktoria Plzen.
It was the second major mistake that Onana has made in the space of a week, but his captain backed him after the game and insisted it wasn't a major issue. “We want to play from the back, we have to make the decision that is the right one," Fernandes told TNT Sport. “We don’t look at individuals here, when something happens on the wrong side or the good side, it’s for the players involved. We have huge belief in Andre, he knows he made a mistake, he’s a clever guy, we don’t need to tell him. He’s going to help us many times coming out from the back. We trust his quality on the ball, they made good pressure, they got the goal, but the most important thing is we had the resilience and fighting spirit to win.
