Charles Leclerc crashed late into the Monaco Grand Prix while on course for a third place finish.
Ferrari partner issues statement addressing 'dangerous' Charles Leclerc interview after Monaco Grand Prix Ferrari 's partner has responded with a statement after Charles Leclerc blamed his Monaco Grand Prix crash on the brakes.was on course for a podium in his home race on Sunday but crashed out at the final corner ahead of a safety car restart in the latter stages of the race.
He ended up sliding into the barrier and his crash caused a brief suspension because tarmac came loose on the track. Along with Carlos Sainz Jr and Lance Stroll, Leclerc suffered a DNF and was in a furious mood on his team radio. Immediately after the crash, Leclerc vented: "Honestly, I"m not even going to take the f***ing blame. These f***ing brakes!
" Having experienced similar issues in Montreal, the 28-year-old's frustrations continued post-race when he spoke to the media. "Today, I look like an idiot. When you look like an idiot for a mistake of yours, it's fine, but it's borderline dangerous.
" "I've always been very honest and no matter how many mistakes I do, I will hate to look at myself in the mirror and see myself finding excuses when I do make a mistake. "That's why I'm so bluntly honest whenever I'm in front of cameras but I'm not going to take any of it today.
"I touch the brakes and there's just something with those brakes that are - on the front brakes it broke a lot more than I thought and in the rear brakes it had no deceleration at all. Leclerc also said that "as soon as I did the safety car, three of my four brakes stopped working" and that he "could never switch them on again". Brembo are Ferrari's official brake supplier and have been for an extended period.
They supply calipers, pumps, discs, and pads and first partnered with the Scuderia in 1975. In 51 seasons since the association began, Ferrari have won nine world drivers' championships and 14 world constructors' championships. But after seeing the comments from Leclerc, Brembo issued a statement where they said they were "very surprised" by the claims made and stressed that "it is premature to make definitive technical assessments before analysing the available data".
“The Brembo Group expresses great astonishment regarding what happened to Charles Leclerc during the Monaco Grand Prix and is very surprised by the statements made by the driver after the race,” it wrote. 'The partnership between Brembo and Scuderia Ferrari has been ongoing for over 50 years and also extends to other brands within the group, such as AP Racing clutches and Ohlins shock absorbers, confirming the solidity and breadth of the collaboration.
“The company is currently unaware of the causes of the problems encountered by Charles Leclerc and therefore believes it is premature to make definitive technical assessments before analysing the available data. In cases like this, it is indeed necessary to examine the telemetry data alongside the team's engineers to pinpoint the exact origin of the incident.
” The race wasn't all bad for Ferrari as Lewis Hamilton was spurred on his other half Kim Kardashian supporting him as he finished second behind Mercedes sensation and 2026 season leader Kimi Antonelli. Fred Vasseur, Ferrari's team principal who was not present at the track on Saturday due to a hospital visit, is hopeful the problem will be corrected before next weekend's Spanish Grand Prix. He stated: "For Charles, it was obviously a very frustrating outcome.
We experienced brake issues throughout the weekend and something was clearly not working as it should.
"We will analyse the situation carefully, understand exactly what happened and make sure we address it before Barcelona. Charles was in a strong position and it's disappointing to lose those points, especially in his home race.
" Leclerc finds himself in fourth position in the overall standings with 75 points, 15 points behind second-placed teammate Hamilton. Josh is a sports journalist who specialises in football and WWE.
