Arne Slot is taking charge of his final Feyenoord game this afternoon
The Dutchman confirmed this week that he will be leaving the club to take up the role at Liverpool. The Reds are replacing Jurgen Klopp, who will say an emotional goodbye to the club after nine years this afternoon.
But Klopp is not the only one saying goodbye this weekend. Slot’s move to Anfield means that he will have a farewell match with Feyenoord taking on Excelsior at home in the Eredivisie, the club have already confirmed a second-placed finish in the league, meaning that it will be a similar situation in concentration being on goodbyes.As the players warmed up for the game, the club displayed a banner with Slot’s picture and the words “Walk on, Walk on” written across it.
The 45-year-old will officially take charge at Anfield ahead of pre-season, when he can work with the squad ahead of the start of the new Premier League campaign. His first game will be on the weekend of August 17–18, when the 2024/25 season kicks off.
