Following a backlash from fans, high-profile players and the co-hosts themselves, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has confirmed the Visit Saudi sponsorship deal will not be going ahead.

Football Australia and Football New Zealand — as well as their respective federal governments — had expressed concerns, both publicly and privately, to FIFA once rumours circulated around the sponsorship earlier this year. FIFA secretary-general Fatma Samoura NSW Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor and Federal Minister for Sport Anika Wells at the "One Year To Go" event ahead of the 2023 Women's World Cup.
