Three staff members are under investigation having been 'voluntarily interviewed'
Police have sent a file of evidence to Crown lawyers following a two-year investigation into alleged mistreatment of patients at a mental health facility. Three staff members are under investigation having been 'voluntarily interviewed'.
In a statement, Greater Manchester Police have now said: "On January 31st this year we reported three individuals remained under investigation, while 32 others had been told they face no further action. We have submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service."The force said no one had been arrested, but that the three people under investigation were 'voluntarily interviewed'. GMP said Panorama bosses handed over covertly-obtained footage.
A GMP spokesperson said in January: "GMP is actively investigating concerning allegations against staff at The Edenfield Centre. Officers have reviewed footage obtained from undercover filming at the mental health unit and, on Tuesday 30 January 2024, wrote to 32 individuals to inform them that no further action will be taken against them, whilst three staff remain under investigation."
In a statement issued in 2022, a spokesperson for GMP said: "GMP has opened an investigation into a number of allegations against staff at the Edenfield Centre, following a period of undercover filming at the mental health unit."
