Former Rangers defender Filip Helander believes his move to Danish side Odense can provide him with a platform to reach his full potential again after a difficult 18 months at Ibrox. The 30-year-old is feeling fit and determined to achieve more in his career. He has earned a Sweden recall and hopes to have a successful season in Denmark before considering his future. Helander still keeps an eye on Rangers' results and games.

Resurgent Filip Helander believes Danish side Odense can give him a platform to reach for the top again.

He said: “I’m not aware of the injury I had at all, which is great. And I think I can still achieve a lot in the game. That’s something I have in my mind. I try to set goals in terms of what I want to do. I’m only 30 so hopefully I have a good few years left in me. Because I was out for a long time it’s almost like I feel MORE healthy now. It’s about making up for lost time. That’s how I’m trying to look at it. I hope to have a good season here in Denmark and see what happens after that.

Helander may have been joking about a return to Glasgow but he will always take an interest in the fortunes of his old club. He said: “I always look for Rangers’ results and watch games when I can but they usually clash with Odense’s matches.
