SCAMMERS selling fake Guidance and Counseling Program (GCP) certificates are using different airports to send their victims out of the country, an official of the Bureau of Immigration said on Tuesday.
Immigration spokesman Dana Sandoval said on Tuesday that the BI prevented two from leaving on May 8, 2023 -- one bound for Australia at the Clark International Airport and another bound for Virginia Islands at the Cebu International Airport -- after they were found to be in possession of bogus GCPs.
In a media briefing on Tuesday, Sandoval said one of the victims disclosed that the fixer had asked for 'P8,000 for the actual certificate and P4,000 for assistance fee.'The GCP is a required pre-departure seminar conducted by the Commission on Filipinos that provides information on the social and cultural realities overseas.
