It is now understood that the country’s most senior civil servant Simon Case will not be resigning and will not be sacked by Boris Johnson over partygate.
Hard copies of Sue Gray’s long-awaited report into Downing Street lockdown parties have arrived in the building, according to No 10 sources.
The civil servant’s inquiry is expected to be more in depth than Scotland Yard’s, which has come under criticism after photos emerged ofon November 13 2020, during England’s second national lockdown.Sue Gray’s report is expected to be ‘quite critical’ and could include photographs as well as the names of rule breakers.
But junior staff are said to be furious the prime minister ‘got away’ with just a single fine while some of them got multiple for attending the same events he was allegedly at. This has long been the defence of ministers and the PM himself when grilled over the culture of rule-breaking in Whitehall during the pandemic.
