The Skokie Fire Department responded to a fire at a school under construction on Thursday morning, putting it out within about 25 minutes, according to a news release.
One construction worker was taken to the hospital in stable condition after the department responded to the structure fire at 7770 Frontage Road, according to a document released by Deputy Chief Nicholas Eschner. Crews found smoke coming from the structure when they arrived around 10:24 a.m. and upgraded the alarm to a working fire response, the release said. After extinguishing the fire, crews brought in a large ventilation fan to air out the building.Fire departments from Evanston, Glenview, Morton Grove, Niles, Park Ridge, Wilmette and Elk Grove Village arrived to assist.
The fire occurred at the contruction site where Arie Crown Hebrew Day School is building its new location, confirmed Elana Meyer, director of communications. Arie Crown, a Jewish pre-K through 8th grade school, plans to leave its location at 4600 Main St., Skokie, in a few months, according to previous reporting, and move into the building under construction where the fire took place by the start of the 2024-25 school year.at the Main Street location that Arie Crown will be vacating, and the Skokie Village Board has approved those plans.Trump is about to go on trial in New York.
