Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service says it will further bolster its 'resilience'
Six senior fire officers in Greater Manchester have been given a pre-Christmas bumper pay rise. But they will have to earn it.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Ben Norman, said: “I welcome the agreement reached with the Fire Brigade Union which will not only drive the productivity and effectiveness of our service, but ensure that Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has more resilience to resolve major incidents. “The changes made to the Area Manager’s cohort will provide greater leadership for all our daily functions and I am thankful for the additional commitment shown by the Area Managers to Greater Manchester.”
County Fire Officer Dave Russel, deputy Ben Norman and three assistant county fire officers are able to drive the cars for their own use as well. But it will also mean they will be expected to respond to serious events such as a terrorist attack, huge life-threatening fires, vast moorland blazes and flooding.
