A fire has broken out inside a flat on Quarry Gardens in Huyton , Merseyside. The blaze started just after 1pm today (Thursday) and has caused extensive damage to the roof of the building. Emergency services, including six fire engines, are currently at the scene. Merseyside Police have closed Quarry Way in both directions, causing slow traffic in the area. People are being advised to avoid the area.
A mother who lives in the building told the ECHO that she had to evacuate with her children after the fire broke out.
