Fire crews are working to make the area safe
Crews were called to an industrial building on Tower Street, close to Brunswick Station. Teams were in the area shortly before 8:15pm, minutes from the first report at 8:08pm.
The site was "divided into sections" and brought under control. Residents and businesses nearby were advised to close their doors and windows tonight. In their latest update, shortly after 9pm, it was confirmed: "Merseyside Police are in attendance and managing a cordon. The main body of fire has been extinguished. Fire crews are checking for hotspots and an electric fan is in use to clear smoke from the building."
