Police have reportedly closed down local roads, which run off Glasgow Road; the main road that connects Port Glasgow to the start of the A8 to Glasgow. The building was once a primary school.

Crews were called to the town's Robert Street at 8.43pm on Sunday. Shocking images show huge flames ripping through the derelict building, which used to be a school, in the Inverclyde town.

Police reportedly closed down local roads, which run off Glasgow Road; the main road that connects Port Glasgow to the start of the A8 to Glasgow. The building was once Clune Park Primary School.The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said six fire engines and specialist resources were sent to the scene, the Daily Record reports. As of 8.45am, SFRS crews were still working to put out the fire.

She said said: “We were alerted at 8.43pm on Sunday to reports of a building on fire at Robert Street, Port Glasgow. Operational Control mobilised six appliances and specialist resources to the scene."We still remain at the scene.”
