Fire crews were deployed
When firefighters arrived they discovered two people in the water, one who was "in distress" and another who was trying to help them. The two people were assisted out of the water by the emergency services and given first aid by East Midlands Ambulance Service.
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call last night at 11.03 pm to reports of people in the water near Riverside Road in Rylands."Crews from Highfields, Newark, West Bridgford and Long Eaton attended the incident. Upon arrival, crews found two people in the water, one in distress and another attempting to rescue them. We assisted everyone out of the water and EMAS provided first aid.
