The building that housed the Butler County Health Department and the Butler County EMA was lost to a fire early Sunday morning.
GREENVILLE, Ala. - The fire that burned down the building housing the Butler County Health Department and the Butler County EMA has been ruled accidental, according to the Alabama Department of Insurance.
The Alabama Department of Insurance confirmed Friday that the cause of the fire has been deemed accidental and was most likely an electrical fire. Butler County Sheriff Danny Bond confirmed that a 911 call was made around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning about the fire. Responding officers and firefighters declared it a general alarm fire.
Bond said the building is a total loss. The state Fire Marshal’s office, local fire officials, police and the sheriff’s department worked together to investigate the cause. no one was in the building and no one was injured. The Alabama Department of Public Health is working to find a temporary space to continue providing services. Until then, citizens are encouraged to contact the Crenshaw County Health Department or other nearby locations for service.
