Great work by emergency services!
Carlisle firefighters were called out to a dramatic incident on Tuesday night when a lorry caught fire.
The heavy goods vehicle had been travelling north up the country up the M6, but the driver noticed there was a problem so pulled his truck off onto the Carlisle Bypass from junction 4 of the motorway. The fire involved the brakes of the trailer unit at the rear of the vehicle. Crews arrived from Carlisle East, West and Longtown Fire Stations at around 9.15pm and managed to extinguish the blaze by using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets. No-one was hurt during the incident.
