One woman was rushed to hospital after the fire broke out at 1.20am on Saturday - and authorities believe this was the result of a common cosy accessory.
Firefighters have issued an urgent warning after a devastating fire gutted a bungalow, which they say was caused by an electric blanket.
The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service shared photographs of the aftermath of the inferno, which they say is believed to have been caused by an electric blanket. In the UK, there are on average around 1,000 fires per year which are caused by electric blankets, contributing to over 20 deaths. Tina said: "I bought the blanket for my mum's birthday to try and save her some money with the current gas prices. Her husband had gone to bed because he works early in the morning, and my mum was sitting and watching telly with it on her knee.
Another piece of advice that could help you stay safe - as well as reducing energy costs - is to only turn your electric blanket on for short periods of time.
