A black Audi vehicle was seen on fire by the side of the canal

Fire crews worked to quickly extinguish the fire, with a large police presence also reported at the scene.A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 2.30pm on Thursday 4 May, firefighters were called out to reports of a car on fire on an unadopted road near Warrington Road, Leigh.
“One fire engine from Leigh attended the scene where a black Audi was on fire at the side of the canal. Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for approximately 15 minutes.”
