Firefighters tackling 'well alight' blaze in Glasgow as cops cordon off busy road
Officers from Police Scotland and firefighters raced to Kilmarnock Road in the Shawlands area of the city after the alarm was raised shortly before 7pm on Tuesday, July 11.
At least nine fire engines have been pictured at the scene as well as a command support unit and numerous police vehicles. Nearby businesses on Kilmarnock Road have been evacuated as a result with no reports of any casualties, according to the fire service.The extent of the fire is currently unclear but one eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from a building on the street.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at around 6.59pm on Tuesday, July 11, to reports of a fire on Kilmarnock Road in Shawlands, Glasgow.Police Scotland confirmed they were called to assist with traffic management at around 7.15pm.
