Liverpool author Dee Benson said it is 'important for children to see themselves authentically represented in the books they read.'
A Liverpool author looks forward to attending the Black British Book Festival when it comes to Liverpool on September 2.
Liverpool writer Dee Benson had her book ‘Glow Up, Lara Bloom’ published by Hot Key Books in February 2023. The book for 11 - 16 year olds tells the story of 14-year-old Lara Bloom, who wants to win the heart of the new boy in school, Caiden. "I saw ordinary people like me were getting literary agents, and that boosted my confidence. I decided to write a new novel with a view to getting an agent, and it worked.
Dee loved writers and wanted to tell stories just like C.S. Lewis, Francine Pascal and others. Her friends have been supportive of her writing when she first started out, giving her lots of lovely constructive feedback.
