The University of Utah and the University of Miami will face off for the first time in football history during the 2027 Vegas Kickoff Classic at Allegiant Stadi

um, ESPN announced Monday.John Saccenti, executive director of the Vegas Kickoff Classic, dubbed the contest "The Battle of the 'U'" - pitting the "U of the West" against the "U of the South" in what he called "one of the world's greatest football venues." "This unique pairing will captivate fans nationwide," Saccenti said. "We're thrilled to bring together Utah, a frequent visitor to Las Vegas, and Miami, a national brand, for this landmark game."
Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan expressed excitement in opening the 2027 season against Miami. "We're eager to challenge the Miami Hurricanes and showcase our program," Harlan said. "We look forward to filling Allegiant Stadium with Utah red once again." "This gives our program a chance to compete against a formidable non-conference opponent while offering our fans an exciting destination to support the Hurricanes," Miami's Vice President and Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said.
