Bus services in Glasgow are set to be impacted after over 1,200 drivers voted to take strike action as part of an ongoing pay dispute. Unite has confirmed that members voted overwhelmingly to walk out.
Unite the Union has confirmed that the First Glasgow employees voted by 99 per cent in support of the industrial action after declining an offer that they say "falls significantly below the pay levels of other drivers across First Group's UK operations".
Further strike action is due to take place by 150 Unite engineers at First Glasgow No.1 and No.2 on November 16 and 17. Graham McNab, Unite industrial officer, added: “The dispute at First Bus is down to our drivers being underpaid and undervalued for a number of years. First Bus has millions sitting in the bank and its operations across Greater Glasgow recorded profits of £4.3 million last year.
