IT'S HAPPENING
The Swedish furniture giant will open up in the county for the first time when it launches a Plan & Order Point in Preston next week. The new shop will not be like its traditional warehouse-style stores but will instead offer a free click and collect service and a kitchen and bathroom showroom.
The new style of store of part of a change of direction for IKEA as it eyes alternatives to its larger units. It was previously earmarked to be the anchor tenant for a major new retail centre in Cuerden in central Lancashire only to pull out of having any involvement.
