The Scots city welcomed the six-metre-wide span that weighs 650 tonnes and is 99 metres long as it sailed up the River Clyde on Saturday afternoon.

The new £29.5m Scots bridge that will connect Govan and Partick was seen for the first time today after sailing up the River Clyde by barge.

It was fabricated in two parts: the moving span, which is 99 metres long and will be used at the South Pier as its access; and the fixed span, which weighs 45 tonnes and is 15.7 metres long.
