The fishing boat was being towed from the shore at Port William Harbour in Dumfries and Galloway when it sunk on November 19, 2022.

William Murray McCubbin, 60, died after a fishing boat capsized while being towed from the shore at Port William Harbour in Dumfries and Galloway. The vessel reportedly began listing and sank into the sea at around 4.30pm on November 19, 2022.Police have now confirmed a 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

“We would like to thank our friends and family for their support over the last 16 months but we now request that our privacy is respected as we await the outcome of the criminal investigation.” At the time of the tragedy, an eyewitness said: "I couldn't believe what had just happened. The fishing boat was on the shore at the rocks at the mouth of Port William Harbour.
