Five high school athletic programs in the state of Alabama were ranked in the MaxPreps Cup 2023-24’s top 100, with one program ranking as high as fifth.
Mountain Brook finished as the fifth-ranked athletic department in the country via the rankings, with Hoover , Scottsboro , Vestavia Hills and Hewitt-Trussville also being recognized.
Mountain Brook finished the athletic season with Class 6A championships in volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys wrestling, girls indoor and outdoor track, boys and girls tennis and girls soccer.Hoover’s boys and girls basketball programs and boys and girls indoor and outdoor track teams all claimed state titles for the Class 7A Buccaneers, with the girls soccer team posting a runner-up finish in the Class 7A tournament.
Vestavia Hills took titles in boys and girls tennis and boys cross country, with the boys swimming team, boys golf and boys indoor and outdoor track team posting runner-up finishes.
