Extending over the course of one mile, it boasts an impressive flight of 16 working locks - one of the steepest flights in Britain.
Castlefield Basin, Manchester With its imposing bridges Castlefield Basin harks back to Manchester’s industrial heritage. Follow the canal east and you’ll see the city from a different perspective, or head west watch as the skyline opens up towards Salford. Alternatively ditch the walk altogether and enjoy a drink at the Wharf instead.
