What you did before doesn’t matter.That’s true. But what a player has — or hasn’t done — before he sets foot on that field provides a baseline. It determines how he’s viewed by the organization, the public and his place in the team’s pecking order.
Here’s the thing. Lance didn’t play that much in college, either. While he was undefeated at North Dakota State, he started only 17 games in his career. He was drafted based off what he did in 2019, completing 66.9 percent of his passes for 2,786 yards with 28 touchdown passes and no interceptions. He rushed for 1,100 yards with 14 touchdowns that same season.
The Cowboys declined to pick up his fifth-year option. That means the young quarterback will be a free agent at the end of the season. He needs to show a lot in these next few months to secure a spot in the league going forward.“My mindset really hasn’t changed. I haven’t really attacked this offseason any differently. Just going out and controlling what I can control and continue to learn the offense, continue to work with these guys and coaching staff.
