Jermaine Jenas was tipped to replace Gary Lineker as host A new favourite has emerged to become Gary Lineker’s replacement on Match of the Day after the BBC sacked Jermaine Jenas. Former footballer Jenas, 41, had long been tipped to replace Lineker as host of the BBC’s flagship sport show. On Thursday, Jenas was axed by the corporation following complaints about workplace conduct, forcing him off Match of the Day as well as The One Show.
‘That news now sees Logan followed by Alex Scott to present the BBC’s flagship show with Final Score’s Jason Mohammed third favourite in the market.’ ‘I would obviously be up for it… it’s Match of the Day and it would be a great opportunity,’ he told the Daily Mail. ‘I haven’t thought that far ahead but I hosted Match of the Day 2 on Sunday night, which was the first one I’ve ever done. ‘I loved it, it felt comfortable to me, it felt normal, and I love doing The One Show as well.
