Five people were killed Sunday in the crash of a private jet as it prepared to land at an airport in western Virginia, according to state and federal authorities.

No survivors were found, police said. The names of those who died were withheld pending notification of relatives, authorities said.The cause of the crash was not known, an investigator from the National Transportation Safety Board said Monday at a briefing. All possibilities would be considered, he said.The crew apparently expressed an intention to land at the airport on an east-west runway, he said.
