Five Ten, renowned for its grippy flat pedal mountain bike shoes, has released an upgraded version of its popular Freerider Pro model. The new Five Ten Freerider Pro BOA features a single Boa Li2 retention system, offering riders enhanced dial-fit control and easier on-the-fly adjustments. This update retains the core features of the Freerider Pro, including its exceptional fit, style, and renowned grip, but with the added convenience of precise BOA adjustments.
Five Ten has implemented a new asymmetric upper design with three pairs of lacing eyelets for four crossings of a narrower woven Boa rope, compared to the traditional six pairs of eyelets found on the classic lace-up version. This approach distributes tightening pressure more evenly across the foot, minimizing pressure points and potentially improving breathability.Furthermore, the new model incorporates a mix of lacing guides. Soft nylon webbing across the forefoot evenly distributes pressure, performs well in dirt and mud, and is incredibly durable. However, a plastic guide allows users to unclip the Boa wire, facilitating easier access to the tongue for cleaning and drying the shoes after rides in adverse weather conditions. The Five Ten Freerider Pro BOA retails for $170 and comes in two color options: all-black with red logos or white with a natural gum rubber sole. It is available in US half sizes 6-13, plus 13 and 14, directly from the adidas online shop. Notably, the white option will be exclusive to select online retailers like Backcountry, Jenson, and REI until mid-March
