After a morning of dropped catches and missed opportunities, Cam Green's screamer helped revive Australia's fortunes on day three of the World Test Championship Final at The Oval.

He admittedly rode his luck during his sensational innings of 89 — he should have been dismissed off a Cummins no-ball for 17 late on day two and was dropped on 72 by David Warner at slip off Cummins.

As part of a 109-run partnership with Shardul Thakur, both Indian batters weathered a huge amount of pressure and aggressive bowling in a performance reminiscent of India's 2020/21 Australian summer. Even the unflappable skipper was showing that his nerves were fraying, kicking the ball away just before lunch as Thakur and Rahane put on their century partnership.Leaping to his right, sticking out his big right mitt and snaring a beauty of a catch to dismiss Rahane almost made up for the shocker he spilled earlier in the morning.Green then took the wicket of Thakur for 51 to completely atone — albeit 43 runs too late and suddenly Australia were back on track with a healthy first innings lead.

And when it wasn't the gloves being hit, Labuschagne was being knocked down by brutal blows to the body."It shouldn't be happening. It is a miracle no-one has broken a hand or finger in these three days."It was a severe test of Labuschagne's resolve as much as the padding on his gloves as the ball leaped up off this Oval pitch time and time again.
