Roughly 100 veterans were celebrated during a surprise visit to Disneyland on Friday as a part of Fleet Week, an annual, multiday celebration of the military.
The active-duty troops, primarily from the U.S.S. Carl Vinson, participated in the resort’s daily flag retreat ceremony that included a march through the park, experienced attractions atFriday’s visit to the park is the second year Disney has hosted sailors and Marines for a Fleet Week visit. LA Fleet Week is an annual, multiday celebration of theon the LA Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles over the extended Memorial Day Weekend. It was first held in 2016.
Last year’s event came together at the last minute, but Disney is now hoping to make this an annual tradition, Suzi Brown, Disneyland Resort’s vice president of communications, told the“When the opportunity came back up to participate again this year, our leadership didn’t hesitate at all,” she explained. “They said, ‘Of course, and we should make this an annual event.’ So certainly that is our hope.
