Jetstar flights between Darwin and Denpasar have been put on hold, as work by the Australian Defence Department places the plans of Top End travellers in jeopardy.
abc.net.au/news/nt-runway-feud-jetstar-bali-flights-defence-darwin-airport/102555588Hundreds of travellers have had their Bali holiday plans thrown into uncertainty, as Jetstar stops selling direct flights between Darwin and Denpasar during the Top End's hottest months.
"There remains significant uncertainty regarding the Defence program of works, and ADG is unable to speculate on the impact to passenger numbers," a spokesperson said. "There's a negotiation that's going on between Defence and the airport corporation at the moment, to ensure that we minimise the disruption to civil aviation through these works … and people coming to Darwin to visit, which is obviously important to the local economy".He said Defence wanted to see the works take place during the Top End's dry season, which runs from May to September, and "ideally at night or non-peak times".
