Airports are warning people to check their flights as StormCiara continues to wreak havoc across the UK

Dozens of flights at Gatwick and Heathrow have already been cancelled as 100mph winds ground planes across Europe.

Gatwick Airport tweeted this morning: ‘As we recover from storm Ciara, some flights today will be subject to delays and cancellations.Several flights to Germany from Heathrow Airport have been cancelled, while British Airways warned there would the adverse weather cause delays to Monday’s schedule.

Some areas saw a month and a half’s rainfall in just 24 hours and gusts of more than 90mph swept across the country on Sunday.To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser thatFlights, ferries and trains all saw cancellations and delays on Sunday, while drivers faced treacherous conditions with floodwater, fallen trees and other debris closing roads.
