A flood alert has been issued for the River Ribble and River Darwen in Preston, Lancashire, following persistent heavy rainfall. The alert, issued by the government's flood warning service, warns of potential flooding in areas including Samlesbury, Darwen, Blackburn, Preston, Walton-Le-Dale, Pleasington, and Higher Walton.

The rain has been persistent and heavy in the area and the warning stated that there was a chance to flooding in some locations as a result.The flood alert has been issued for the River Ribble and River Darwen as of around 3.15pm today by the government’s flood warning service. A spokesperson said: “We are closely monitoring the situation and monitoring rainfall and river levels.
