Our next chance of rain comes from the tropics
Check out our current radar below. Today we can expect rounds of scattered showers and storms. These storms will bring heavy downpours and can quickly drop over an inch of rainfall.Washington, Colorado, Austin, Waller, Harris, Chambers, Wharton, Fort Bend, Jackson, Matagorda, Brazoria and Galveston counties until 1 a.m. Thursday.There is 70% chance that a tropical system will develop in the Bay of Campeche this week.
The center of the storm will stay to the south, making landfall in Mexico. Regardless of formation, our impacts are the same. We will see gusty winds to 30mph, rough seas, high rip currents and a flood threat. Today we will see scattered heavy rainfall, but we can expect to see heavy constant rainfall starting late Tuesday and lasting through early Thursday.If a tropical system develops , the center of the storm will be over Mexico.
Tuesday brings more widespread bands of showers and storms. Tuesday morning starts off with low rain chances, then activity picks up in the afternoon and evening.By lunchtime on Tuesday we will begin to see a more constant, steady rainfall. This will allow totals to climb quick.The slow moving nature of the bands will lead to a risk of flooding. The risk is moderate , so you need to take it serious.
