A flood watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 6:04 p.m. in effect until Saturday at 1 a.m. for Western Chester, Eastern Chester, Western Montgomery and Upper Bucks as well as Carbon, Monroe, Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties.
Published: Aug. 08, 2024, 6:19 p.m."Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas," adds the weather service. "You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
When stopping by the roadside is your only option, position your vehicle as far off the road as possible, ideally beyond guardrails. Keep your headlights on and activate emergency flashers to alert other drivers of your position.
