The game was abandoned after 54 minutes with the score tied at 0-0 after two separate issues arose with the generator powering the floodlights. Lawlor praised both Glentoran and Larne for their cooperation in dealing with the technical difficulties.
He highlighted that the referee's decision to abandon the game was the most sensible choice, considering the potential for an incomplete match or a goal being scored before the lights could be restored. The NIFL CEO acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the postponement, particularly for Larne, who now face a congested schedule with six games in hand over the league leaders, Linfield. He reassured fans that the NIFL staff are working diligently to reschedule the fixture. Larne manager Gary Haveron accepted the abandonment but expressed the team's frustration at having to deal with another rearranged match. He pointed out that playing catch-up in the title race is already challenging, and the extra game adds further complexity. Haveron emphasized the team's desire to have the points secured rather than relying on games in hand, acknowledging that the situation is a difficult one to manage
