“We just put it [the song] out there, and this is one of the childhood dreams – to actually get it in the Hottest 100.” Music festival favourites and long-time countdown staples the Hilltop Hoods broke a Hottest 100 record when their songfeaturing Montaigne and Tom Thum came in at No.54. The hip-hop group, who made their countdown debut in 2003, are the only artist or group with 23 songs across the countdowns, eclipsing Foo Fighters and Powderfinger, who have 22 songs each.
Last year’s title was awarded to childhood favourites-turned-music festival regulars The Wiggles, whose playful rendition of Tame Impala’sbecame the first cover song to top the countdown.
