A business owner has been fined over £1,300
A business owner has been fined over £1,300 after dumping rubbish on private land in Irthlingborough. North Northamptonshire Council ended up spending £1,500 to remove the waste and secure the site.
The commissioner contributed £1500 for a gate to be installed at the entrance to the land to prevent unauthorised access and another incident from happening again. The money also went towards the removal of the waste. Northamptonshire’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold said: “Fly-tipping is an offence and is taken seriously in Northamptonshire as this latest conviction shows. It is also hugely detrimental to the environment, a fire hazard and can be costly to remove.
In another incident, an individual was fined for fly-tipping in Rushden. A local business in Coffee Tavern Lane found numerous bags of rubbish, a fish tank and cardboard left by their commercial bin in June 2021.
