Flying cars could be yours in just seven years

FLYING cars could soon take off around the UK after a Japanese manufacturer tested its battery-powered drone.The flying car is expected to be mass produced in 2026Japanese firm NEC Group has tested its new flying car this week at its facility in Tokyo.The battery-powered drone used four large propellers to launch its 150kg frame into the air before landing smoothly.

And in a bid to ensure the safety of workers, the unmanned vehicle was tested within a caged facility and tied to the ground.Credit: AP:Associated PressCredit: AP:Associated Press Following the successful flight, the project partner Cartivator confirmed it would begin mass-producing the vehicles by 2026.Last year, Uber began talks with US Government officials in a bid to launch a fleet of affordable flying taxis.to take off and land vertically.

Kouji Okada, leader of the flying car project at NEC, said: "Japan is a densely populated country and that means flying cars could greatly alleviate the burden on road traffic. "We are positioning ourselves as an enabler for air mobility, providing location data and building communications infrastructure for flying cars."
