Carson King held up a sign at a college football game begging for beer money – and was shocked when he appeared on TV, and thousands in dollars began rolling in to his account Carson King, 24, held up the sign proclaiming ‘Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished, Venmo Carson-King-25’ at a college football game in Iowa Saturday.
Venmo lets users transfer money to anyone else with an account using just a simple username, and can be done in seconds via a smartphone app. Carson plans to buy himself a case of beer with the cash – then donate the rest to his local children’s hospital, with Venmo and Busch Light matching his donations
Both Busch Beer and Venmo heard of King’s plan, and offered to match the donations he’d been sent, meaning the hospital can now expect to receive at least $200,000.
